What A photo shoot to Peridot Mesa and Boyce Thompson Arboretum for seasonal wildflowers, cacti and birds. Peridot Mesa, on the San Carlos Apache Reservation near Globe AZ, is one of Arizona'z hot spots for wildflower viewing.  Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the largest and oldest botanical garden in the state. (Photo by Richard Coles)


When:  Departure 6 am, 6 March, 2017 – (date is subject to change according to when flowers are in bloom, could be plus or minus a week or so)


Where:  Peridot Mesa and Boyce Thompson Arboretum, AZ


Photo Shoot Leader:  Richard Coles 


Who:  Maximum group size of 12 Club Members.


Meals:  We will stop at a restaurant for lunch


Camera Equipment:  Wide angle, medium telephoto and macro lenses will be good for wildflower and landscape photography  

                          

Cost:  Admission fees Peridot Mesa $ 10.00 per person per day, fees Boyce Thompson Arboretum $ 12.50 per person. Fuel cost to be shared by participants in each vehicle for the round trip is estimated per vehicle at $30.00. Lunch individual tab. 


Car Pools: We will meet in the parking lot outside of Angela’s at 5:45 AM to form car pools and depart at 6:00 AM. Use the parking lot on the south side of Remington drive farthest from the restaurant.


In addition to the vehicle of the photo shoot leader, 2 more high clearance vehicles are needed that can each hold 4 passengers plus camera gear. Passengers will split cost of gas.  


Cutoff date for registration: Monday, 20 February. 2017.


Registration: Photo shoot will be available for registration starting Sunday, 22 January, 2017 


Additional Information

Depart 6 AM arrive back about 6 PM.


There are no restrooms at the Peridot Mesa site so our last stop will be at Circle K in Globe, where each participant must pick up a $10 pass for access to Peridot Mesa.


Please bring enough water and snacks to stay hydrated and energized.

The ground is generally rocky and exposed to sunlight so hats and proper hiking footwear are required, no open toed shoes or sandals. Knee pads or gardening pads and bean bags might also be helpful along with your camera gear.
